I finished the year stronger than ever, training wise and fitness wise.
Second highest year behind 3,178 miles in 2011.Thanks to all the support from family and friends, who have had to put up with the non-running version of me (even less pleasant than usual), and my attempts to find a non-running activity, which included a lot of cycling, and a mid-life crisis involving getting back onto my skateboard… I have no goals for 2021 beyond being able run on a daily basis again. Most of which is done with the aforementioned (and very patient) TMR buddy Eddie B. I’m currently on a rehab program of 2-3 runs per week. 18:55 and I couldn’t be happier.Īside from that, the less said the better. Finishing the year with a lung bursting New Year’s Eve 5k around a very icy CHP with Eddie B.Running 35 miles on my own on the canal towpath in April on the day the Two Oceans was supposed to take place.Little did we know what was to come of course… but regardless, I loved taking that on.
I felt good and confident about my race chances after that. It was tough but went well and we both managed to complete the run. The loop is a hilly 14 miles and Martin M and myself (both training for the cancelled Two Oceans Ultramarathon in Cape Town), decided to attempt the 2 laps. A long term goal of completing 2 laps of our world famous Pope Route long run.Running a 16:05 CHP parkrun on the day of my 45 th birthday in March, which was the fastest by a V45 in the country at that time, and due to the cancellation of all parkruns subsequent to that one, has remained in the number 1 spot for the rest of the year. 😊.
